What We Do

We could bang on for hours about this but have saved you time by summarising the UN Influx initiative for you here:

1. The Aim

The broad aim of Influx is to help the UN and the public engage better with one another. For the inhabitants of an increasingly connected and complex world the UN provides the opportunity of a better global referee as the world develops. For the UN, the rallying of political will can help it achieve its aims sooner.

It's called Influx as it is about increasing the influence of individuals and because it is about change and new ways the UN can function better. The 'Why' page will help you understand why this matters, in case you're not sure this matters yet.

2. Next Objective

The deadline for the UN’s Millennium Development Goals ends in 2015. Our precise objective is that the next wave of targets will include a target for greater engagement between the UN and the public, acknowledging that this is an important element in realising peaceful and sustainable global development, and hopefully with Influx continuing to have a supporting role with building this.

3. Schedule for 2015

February 20-22: Hackathon 1

February 27: Test results of Hackathon 1 at London Model UN conference

September: Hackathon 2, aim to run an international event to coincide with the sitting of the UN General Assembly or possibly the DPI-NGOLS Conference (August)
